Electrocardiogram - ECG/EKG Technician
This course consist of 24 hours lecture hours (2.6 Credit Units) including examination time and 8 hour (.4 redit Units) of lab time including a minimum of 10diagnostic ECG, with accurate patient information performed.
101 - Basic Principles of Cardiovasculary System Basic information regarding health care. Discuss ECG role in varied facilities. Explain roles of different health care personnel and the multiskilled provider. Consider the Patient’s Bill of Rights and legal implications. Provider needs, Communication skills, Principles of infection control and “Standards Precautions”.
102 - The Normal Electrocardiogram Detection and recording methods. Concept of ECG acquisition. Explain ECG complex. ECG paper and measurements.
103 - Leads Systems Lead systems including limb leads, chest leads, placement and overview by lead.
104-Identifying Rhythms Sinus rhythms, Atrial arrhythmias, Junction rhythms, Ventricular rhythms, Atrioventricular block, and other arrhythmias.
105 - Acquiring the ECG Equipment operation, Maintenance of equipment, Procedural considerations, Patient position, Skin preparation, Recognizing artifact and correction. Identification of potential hazards.
106 - Qualtiy Assurance & Continual Quality Improvement JCAHCO Recommendations, American College of Cardiology Guidelines and Infection Control
107-ECG Laboratory Training Perform a minimum of 10diagnostic ECG’s, with accurate patient information.
