Physical Therapy Aide and Rehabilitation

These 600 Clock hours (44.0 Credit Unit) program requires 39 weeks of training and provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitude development. The course consists of a series of lectures, conferences and clinical experiences specifically designed for massage therapy training.

The Physical Therapy Aide and Rehabilitation program is designed to provide career training to students for employment as a Physical Therapy Aide and/or Massage Therapist.

The program takes a holistic approach to rehabilitation and wellness by integrating medical massage practices with physical therapy techniques and knowledge.

The program provides students with an understanding of and training in anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, practical manual work in different medical massage techniques, physical therapy exercises, and clerical work in a physical therapist’s office. The program will also cover professional ethics and hygiene as well as ways for the students to brand themselves and increase marketability.

The students will use a variety of resources and equipment throughout the program, ranging from textbooks for theory and practical equipment for training in application of knowledge and treatment. The program puts an emphasis on hands-on training and the students’ time will be evenly split between theory and application.

The program is also pursuing approval from the California Massage Therapy Council for certification so that students may receive voluntary certification as massage therapists. Note that licensure or certification is not required in California, but certain counties may require CAMTC certification.

The program is 39 weeks.

Requirements:

Must have a high school diploma or GED.
